About this opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity to join Scottish Widows Investment Operations Data Analytics team as a Scientific Advisor within our Chief Investments Office. This is a varied role where you'll be responsible for supporting the investment team with independent insight and advice on scientific issues, ensuring policy and decision-making is underpinned by science, rigorous evidence and sound analysis to help advise solutions supporting our customers.
You’ll work collaboratively with a wide group of colleagues across Scottish Widows bringing your passion for statistical analysis to support the data analytics function in the design of analytical and predictive data modelling.
What you'll be doing:
* Consuming, analysing and summarising publicly available research and academic literature supporting the team with independent insight.
* Providing advice, challenge and oversight to senior leaders on areas of scientific enquiry.
* Contributing to debate on scientific subject matter with investment impact, including areas of environmental and social policy.
* Working alongside our data function to test and measure consumer behaviour patterns and design future research pathways.
What you'll need:
* Experience of translating and synthesising research findings across a broad range of quantitative and qualitative disciplines.
* Understanding of statistical techniques associated with hypothesis testing and predictive modelling.
* Tight-knit collaboration and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and accurately.
* Experience in building strong networks across organisations.
* You’ll be familiar with the peer-review research processes and credible academic publications.
