We are excited to launch our Apprentice and Trainee roles, starting in September 2025!
Are you ready to kickstart your career in a team where you can make a difference?
Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is an inclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society.
Our apprentice and trainee programmes will help you build and establish a career where you will have the freedom to learn, achieve your ambitions and leave your mark on the communities in which we work.
Working as part of our building services team, on our midland’s healthcare portfolio, we are now looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Painter & Decorator to join our 2025 development programme and help us shape the future at King’s Mill Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital.
What you'll do:
* Be part of a team responsible for the maintenance and redecoration of the complete range of both internal and external finishes and fixtures on all three Sherwood Forest Hospital sites: Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield Community Hospital and Newark General Hospital.
* To undertake correctly and to a high standard the work associated with planned preventative maintenance or the painting programme, under supervision and with support.
* Gain an understanding of how to follow building drawings and specifications.
* Order required materials to undertake the tasks.
* Collaborate with other teams to arrange access into departments.
* Complete all record sheets and paperwork associated with routine duties accurately and in good time.
* To learn and understand how to ensure work is carried out safely to current industry standards and associated codes of practice.
What you'll bring to the role:
* You will ideally hold a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent, grade 4 to 9) for us to enrol you on a Level 2 apprenticeship, however, please feel free to apply if you do not meet this criteria.
* You will have a genuine interest in starting your career in painting and decorating and be enthusiastic to learn.
* The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail and will be able to work collaboratively with others.
What we offer:
* You will be a part of a community of 100+ graduates and apprentices.
* Funding and support to help you achieve a formal qualification.
* We want you to do well and will support you to have a meaningful career beyond the apprenticeship.
* Support and guidance from experienced leaders and teams.
* Professional and social events.
* Opportunities to volunteer in the local community at least one day per year.
* Support to achieve your professional accreditation and expenses covered for the professional membership of your choice.
* Access to our employee networks - these include: Womxn’s, Ability, Pride, O.N.E (Origins, Nationalities & Ethnicities), Military, and Mental Health & Wellbeing.
* My Rewards – an array of retail, dining, well-being and travel discounts.
* Cycle to work scheme.
* Flex-It programme to achieve a work life balance where possible.
* You would be joining a mental health aware organisation where we offer wellbeing support through our employee assistance programme; mental health ambassador network and awareness discussions.
What qualification will you be studying towards?
Through day release to college or on site, we will provide support and funding to achieve a Level 2 Painter & Decorator qualification.
This role is based at King’s Mill Hospital & Mansfield Community Hospital, Mansfield.
