Due to internal movement, we have a very exciting opportunity for a Group Safety Manager to join their team. Within this role you’ll be responsible for promoting a positive, healthy and safe culture and working with all departments and sites to maintain the required level of compliance.
The role:
* Comply with and demonstrate leadership in accordance with Business Plan KPIs, Safety Management Systems, Management Plans, Legislative requirements, and any reasonable instructions contributing to the sites goals.
* Review, develop, refine and implement internal health and safety strategies, plans and policies necessary to optimise business performance and compliance.
* Proactively conduct internal audits to ensure continuous improvement.
* Participate in external safety audits ensure compliance is met.
* Manage and advise your peers to work safely, whilst also challenging anyone who is putting themselves or others at risk.
* Monitor compliance and support operations in their accountability for legislative obligations and Safety Management System and corporate requirements.
* Demonstrate a highly visible onsite presence and commitment to implementation of safety policies, strategy, standards, systems, processes and interactions.
* Foster a pro-active approach to safety management with team members, operations, corporate and contractors.
* Facilitate and/or participate in work area incident investigations, risk assessments, induction process and management of change processes.
* Proactively identify, communicate and report on potential improvement areas of health, safety, and compliance risks.
* Identifying areas of non-compliances and trends with work area safety processes, record management and systems.
* Monitor the site’s emergency preparedness and response equipment and capabilities.
* Review, refine and maintain the Emergency Management System and assist with the implementation of the Emergency Management Plan requirements.
* Supporting and participating in site WHS Committee meetings, work area pre-start meetings and toolbox meetings.
* Being abreast of any changes to relevant safety legislation, industry standards, trends and company policies.
* Promoting a positive organisational culture that empowers involvement in safety matters and pro-active reduction of risks.
* Assist with planning and coordination of resources within area of responsibility.
* Additional suitable tasks and support as requested by COO.
* Engage and consult with suppliers and service providers to support the safety function.
* Provide the ongoing maintenance and improvement of health, safety, training and site induction related matters.
* Ensure full and accurate health and safety, training records and risk registers are being maintained as per compliance requirements.
* Working collaboratively with work areas in conducting work area inspections, in-field task observations and verifying hazard control effectiveness.
* Advise and support work areas to develop/review procedures and training/induction materials.
* Provide strong leadership to drive a high-performance safety culture, role modelling and reinforcing the behaviours that will underpin the success and safety of the operation.
* Actively contribute to, assist, and share knowledge and information with your team aimed at improving safety, work processes, cost, and teamwork.
* Prepare safety specific weekly reporting to capture safety functions, incidents, hazards, audit outcomes and various projects.
* Involvement with workers compensation and return to work function as required.
* Manage and mentor your team to ensure departmental, business and individual growth goals are achieved.
What we’re looking for:
* Tertiary qualifications in Business, HR Management, Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
* Workers compensation and Return to Work Coordination experience.
* First Aid and CPR.
* Incident Investigation Facilitation (desirable).
* Experience with internal and external audits.
* Experience with developing, reviewing and maintaining WHS Safety management systems, process, procedure and protocols.
* Knowledge of NSW WH&S Legislation and statutory requirements.
* Experience in the manufacturing or food processing industry highly favourable.
* Passion for continuous improvement to ensure the highest level of safety is achieved.
* Sound computer skills (particularly in MS Office Suite and I Leader) and high level of administrative skills.
* Strong and ethical leader with good written and oral communication skills.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise a dynamic workload within given timeframes.
* Excellent time management skills without compromising standard, service, or quality.
* Manage and build positive relationships (internal and external).
* Maintain confidentiality with regards to all tasks.

* Ability to work in pressure situations with competing workplace priorities.
