As part of your daily role you will deliver a high standard of physical, personal, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for children age 2-4 year old within the nursery. Working as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all children can play, learn and develop, while also supporting other team members and the nursery manager.
Job description:
• To operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of your key children in conjunction with other team members
• To plan, develop and keep records of your key children’s development and share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life
• To follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure
• Support all team members and engage in developing an excellent working environment
• Liaise with and work closely with parents/carers to deliver an individual learning and development journey for your key children
• To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Help where needed, to include the undertaking of cleaning equipment and preparing snacks etc as designated by the Nursery Managers or the Senior Childcare Practitioner
• Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the day-to-day running of the nursery
• To respect the confidentiality of all information received
• To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors
• To implement the Childcare planning according to the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
Qualifications: Maths and English GCSE 4/C or above is desirable
Must Have: Level 2 Early Years or childcare related qualification
Skills required: Caring, creative, eager to learn and motivated
Training:
• To achieve apprenticeship framework (Functional Skills, NVQ and Technical Certificate) within the specified time frame for Early Years Educator Level 3
• Attend the apprenticeship induction programme
• Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary, 6 hours off the job training per week.
• Undertake any other required development work as part of the apprenticeship programme as requested
• Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.
Working Week: Hours are 30 including college + overtime as and when required. Mon – Fri 7.45 am – 6pm on a rota basis.
Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley
College or your place of work. Student to complete a Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship.
