Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors and who is looking for multiple experienced professionals to join them on permanent basis. They are currently seeking a Active Travel Engineer located in Glasgow or Edinburgh. Job Description: The role will focus primarily on the technical deliver of active travel projects of varying complexity across Scotland. Working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technicians and other professionals, you will be part of the design team responsible for delivering active travel designs which includes producing technical reports, drawings and specifications to relevant standards. Some of the main responsibilities for this role include: - Supporting the Project Team in designing active travel schemes. - Preparing 3D models and scheme drawings, from feasibility design through to detailed design. - Utilising 3D design packages such as Civil3D. - Ensuring tasks are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets. - Co-ordinating the active travel design process and integrating with other design disciplines within a multi-disciplinary team. - Keeping up-to-date with current methods and design guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience and understanding of the application of technical guidance and standards, such as Cycling by Design, Designing Street, National Roads Development Guide and Inclusive Mobility. - Ability to work within multi-disciplinary projects with other disciplines including Highways Engineers, Active Travel designers, Traffic Engineers, Landscape Architects, Drainage and Structural Engineers. - AutoCAD design experience. - Ability to work independently and within teams to develop robust, practical, safe and innovative solutions. Desirable Criteria: - Full driving licence. - Cycling experience. - Civils’ 3D and / or GIS experience - Use of MS Office, including working knowledge of MS Project.
