Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant to work in the Home Based Treatment Team in Barrow in Furness.The Home Based Treatment Team cares for adults who are experiencing acute episodes of mental illness or emotional distress. The service is an alternative to admission and offers intensive support to service users and their families in the community. The post holder will be expected to contribute to this care and take direction from qualified practitioners.The service works closely with the in-patient wards to support early discharges and with other parts of the mental health services as well as third sector providers, so great communication skills are essential both face to face and via the telephone.The post is a full-time, permanent post covering the service over 7 days per week working long days and nights. The post holder will be expected to cover night duty as required by the post. The team covers a large geographical area from Barrow in Furness and the immediate areas surrounding it but covers areas as far as Millom and Coniston/Haverigg.As a member of the team you would be working with a varied multi-disciplinary team consisting of Mental Health Nurses, Health Care Assistances, Assistant Practitioners, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists; Psychologists and Consultant Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctors, Junior Doctors and students. Main duties of the job Mental health services at Furness Home Based Treatment Team are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder would support the delivery of care in the urgent care pathway. o Work as an integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working within a rotational shift system to support patients according to their care needs, some of whom may present with problematic or challenging behaviour. o Contribute to and participate in the ongoing support of patients and their carers. o Contribute to the protection of patients from abuse o Contribute to the health, safety and security of patients and their environment. o Obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of a care service.
