Midlothian Council are inviting applications from candidates with specialist plant experience to help us deliver a variety of exciting projects utilising our extensive fleet which has seen investment to ensure we have the tools to deliver quality projects for our communities.
Candidates should have experience in, and qualifications to back up in a variety of the below – however we are a ‘great place to grow’ and successful candidate will be given training to gain skills on the items of plant they currently are not trained on. The list is not exhaustive, and we are currently looking for new ways to deliver projects.

* 180/360/Pothole Pro
* Mechanical chipper
* Heavy Roller
* C+E low loader
* Gully vehicle
* Screed truck
KNOWLEDGE
Essential
Jobholders must hold SVQ Level 3 in Civil Engineering Technologies/Highways Maintenance or equivalent, or relevant HNC qualification along with extensive post qualification experience in the road maintenance industry, in particular operating specialist plant.
They must be familiar and confident to carry out a variety of tasks as outlined in the main duties section and be able to safely operate a number of items of plant associated to the tasks.
Full clean HGV Class C driving licence.
SVQ Level 2 module in winter maintenance

Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday 07:30-15:45, Friday 07:30-12:30

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £30,243.53 per annum.
