It is an exciting time at AtkinsRéalis, with opportunities from concept design of new reactor technology and development fusion power to the licensing and construction of new build power stations within the UK and overseas. As a result, we are looking for Senior Environmental Specialists with a passion for working in the UK nuclear industry to join our new capability group - Environment, Waste and Radiological Services.
What you'll be doing:
You will be working on a variety of technical projects within a team who specialise in Environmental Services and Waste Strategy Consultancy. This will involve supporting our UK new build clients, providing specialist advice, and delivering the environmental and waste management documentation required to demonstrate compliance with the nuclear site licence and environmental permit conditions.
You will also support our other UK clients at defence facilities, generation stations, decommissioning sites; and you will have the opportunity to apply your UK industry knowledge to overseas projects and international clients operating within the industry. The role will enable you to further develop your management skills by leading other team members within a project-based environment. In addition, you will get the opportunity to further develop your technical and project skills through targeted training, on the job experience, mentoring and continual professional development.
Ideally applicants will be:
1. Previously experienced or have awareness of environmental permitting and/or Best Available Techniques (BAT) assessments; waste management strategy development; radioactive waste characterisation and inventory; radiological dose modelling; radioactive contaminated land management.
2. Experienced in the areas of staff management, client liaison, and bid development.
3. Energised by developing and managing others. You'll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices.
4. Experienced in the nuclear industry.
5. Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.

Rewards and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary that is regularly tested against other consultancy firms and is commensurate with experience / qualifications. Our default of 25-days leave per year plus bank holidays can be adapted to suit your ambitions, with options to buy or sell leave.
Additional Information:
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
