Are you a qualified and experienced Pharmacy Technician who has worked within Hospital Settings? Do you have an all-round knowledge of hospital pharmaceutical procedures?
NHS Professionals have exciting opportunities for a Pharmacy Technician with experience to support our client trusts. You will maintain key relationships with co-workers and other health care professionals across the Trust to ensure an effective service.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
1. Labelling and dispensing of medicine supplies to wards and departments including clinical trial dispensing, using the pharmacy computer system according to the dispensary procedures; ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in processing of prescriptions.
2. Providing practical support and advice to the allocated team members in relation to managing monthly Dispensary Controlled Drug stock checks, auditing and correction of levels, ensuring the correct process is followed, and a clear audit trail is maintained.
3. Undertaking extemporaneous dispensing making relevant calculations for the formula and preparing products according to good Pharmacy Practice, in addition to regular expiry date checking for designated bin locations in Pharmacy – to identify expired or short dated stock.
4. Counselling patients that attend Pharmacy on how to take their medicines in a safe manner and warning them of possible side effects that they may experience during treatment.
5. Assisting in ensuring dispensary work is processed accurately, safely and efficiently, according to procedures to support turnaround key performance indicators.
6. Providing support to the dispensary service under the direction of the senior technician or operational manager, including taking the lead for the dispensary service when required.
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:
* To be GPhC Registered and ACT Checking skills/experience are Essential.
* Experience in using Cerner Millenium Electronic Prescribing System; hospital experience is Highly Desirable.
* To be available for minimum 3 days per week & for minimum 3 months (offer of extension and/or alternative role).
* Lower Band candidates will be considered, minimum qualification accepted is NVQ Level 2.
