Job Description The Communications Director, International and Global Business Development reports to the Vice President Corporate Affairs and International Communications and serves as the direct client interface to the GBD&S customer leading strategic communications across GBD&S and all International regions. They are responsible for directing, implementing and executing internal and external communications strategies for all international regions. Key Accountabilities; Develop strategies to promote Lockheed Martin’s global business development initiatives in target regions though multi-dimensional communications initiatives. working closely with the President, GBD&S and Vice President, International. Lead non-U.S. internal and external communications staff and initiatives to advance 21st Century Security priorities and create operational efficiencies. Oversee critical enablement tools for the Communications function, including auditing and managing international communications vendors. Serve as trusted counsel on international issues and opportunities for the Chief Communications Officer and other senior executives. Design and implement transformation initiatives to advance ongoing development of Lockheed Martin’s Communications Function. Build and sustain brand recognition of the Lockheed Martin name and broad portfolio, across all international regions. Position Lockheed Martin as a broad portfolio company and work with business areas to promote and enhance this image. Work closely with all Lockheed Martin lines of business to shape and support their international requirements and deliver high class communications against their business plans. Ensure consistency and coordination of international communications activities and coordination of internal and external messaging to include media, advertising, collateral material, and community outreach and trade shows. Provide strategic messaging for external speaking engagements and agree employee communications rhythms to position leadership and objectives for President, GBD&S and Vice President, International. Provide strategic vision to the design and management of the development, of planning, and conduct of strategic public relations and community relations programmes across international. Lead the strategic development of a proactive media relations programme across international to build relationships with key commentators, journalists and media outlets, as appropriate Integrate electronic communications, including new media, into the overall strategy for reaching external and internal stakeholders. Manage the International and GBD&S functional budget Provide overall leadership for effective employee communications with Lockheed Martin employees, ensuring respect and sensitivity for cultural differences among our work force. Ensure that objectives and strategies are measurable to establish success and accurate benchmarking. Bachelor’s degree in communications with a minimum of 15 years of communications experience including public relations, executive communications, internal communications, integrated communications, and corporate communications. Postgraduate education preferred. Leadership roles in government or private sector aerospace/defense, and experience advising publicly traded companies preferred. Experience driving integrated, international communications initiatives with demonstrated impact reaching corporate stakeholders. Solid understanding of the geopolitical landscape and implications for multinational corporations. Ability to build new capabilities and integrate new tools, gaining trust among executives and inspiring new ways of working throughout Communications teams. Experience leading through influence in a matrixed, geographically distributed environment. Ability to translate corporate milestones into news-making and storytelling opportunities that positively promote the organization’s thought leadership and reputation. Proven expertise in crisis communications, including developing regional and enterprise responses to crises. Experience designing and implementing international communications strategies aligned with corporate strategy. Ability to travel as required.
