This role is located in the United Kingdom at our business unit, Chemtech Environmental, within the Cawood Scientific Environment Division. This new acquisition expands our waste testing, soil analysis, and environmental contamination testing services, extending our capacity and capability in these areas. Chemtech are currently looking for a Chemist in the Inorganics Department join their Laboratory on a full-time permanent basis based on site. Our Chemists deliver laboratory services through efficient work planning and the use of analytical instrumentation and techniques. In addition, the support our laboratory technicians and co-ordinators as an when required. You are enthusiastic, organised, and confident. You have experience with wet chemistry, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, IC or Skalar, in a commercial environment with a high throughput and working to demanding deadlines. Knowledge of the analytical instrumentation and UKAS accreditation means you get a gold star against your name. The role: Organisation Communicate with other departments. Be a role model and set an example to junior staff. Supervise Technicians. Ensure good housekeeping. Maintain stock levels. Liaise with suppliers. Place orders accordingly. Analysis Undertake preparation and analysis. Update worklists accordingly. Training & development Train Chemists and Technicians. Ensure staff training records are maintained. Identify opportunities for improvement in analysis. Undertake method development. Quality Carry out daily checks when required. Undertake NWR investigations. Equipment Carry out equipment trouble shooting and maintenance. Carry out equipment calibration. Internal AQC Check internal AQC against acceptance criteria. Maintain AQC charts. Carry out NWR investigations for AQC failures and other internal anomalies. External AQC Preparation and analysis of PT samples. Carry out PT failure reports within laboratory section.
