Our client an award-winning, family-run drink production business in Truro, are looking for an orchard / Vineyard Controller on a permanent basis. Orchard management / Vineyard and general agricultural / horticultural experience required. What we offer: £35k-£40K per annum. Permanent role. 40H per week. The role: Management of duties for the grounds team, in accordance with work tasks agreed with COO. Appraisals for team and working to expected standards. Sole responsibility for orchards and their contents – maintain, renew, pest disease, storm damage, correct nutrients, spray programme, liaison with orchard consultant and complying with report, maximising yield for cost input, maintaining orchard file with reports and logbook. Assisting with the management of the vineyard. Working together with the vineyard manager to ensure they are maintained to the highest standards year-round. Supporting the Vineyard manager with overall care, maintenance and upkeep of all 300 Acres including woodland management, felling, maintaining and re-planting. Overall responsibility for all garden/groundwork including grass cutting (tractor/lawnmower), strimming, weed control, hedges, flowerbeds and plants/shrubs, hanging baskets and tubs (seasonal). Setting targets for colleagues to achieve and monitor progress. Ensuring orchards and grounds of the main farm site are tidy, clear, weed free and safe. Visibly appealing to all visitors, acting as the liaison for the department. Polytunnel – clean, presentable, watered. Kept to an acceptable standard and productive use. Landscape maintenance. Ensure that all checklists and relevant paperwork are filled in accurately and presented on time. All tasks to be completed to an acceptable audit standard. Ensuring all animals are regularly fed, counted and checked in a clean state. Ensuring animals are in good health and to always be available to assist in their welfare. Maintaining gates, fences and animal tools/aids. Rodent control. (All sites) Staff responsibility – animal caring, tractor work, grounds – ensure trained to procedure in the use of equipment and supervise to ensure safe and competent. Agree time frames for completion of tasks and site activities. Assist with any other site duties as required. Any other activity/tasks as and when requested by the Directors. Qualifications & Skills Tractor driving experience and licence. Spraying certificate PA1, PA3 & PA6. Chainsaw certificate. Horticultural trailer licence. Telehandler ticket. Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices. Good at planning and practical problem solving. Good communication skills. People management.
