Liverpool University Dental Hospital provides dental care across all specialities through undergraduate, postgraduate and specialist service activity.
Applications are invited for the post of Registered Dental Nurse within the Dental Hospital. Applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council and hold a recognised dental nurse qualification. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent clinical and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide the highest quality of nursing care to all staff and students within the trust.
2. Carry out duties in a way that makes a direct and positive contribution to the organisation.
3. Work with minimum supervision, using own initiative.
4. Support undergraduate and postgraduate students during dental procedures.
5. Record treatment and other associated clerical work.
6. Prepare filling materials, impression materials, instruments, equipment, dressings, and syringes.
7. Ensure the treatment area is clean and tidy, adhering to infection prevention and control procedures.
8. Clear away used instruments and materials at the end of treatment.
9. Assist with medical emergencies in line with GDC scope of practice.
10. Assist clinics with investigations e.g. x-ray procedures, blood tests, and bacteriological tests.
11. Receive patients attending for emergency treatment and triage as appropriate.
12. Provide patients with pre- and post-operative instructions and ensure that they fully understand the instructions.
13. Care for and perform minor maintenance of equipment utilised within the dental environment.
14. Assist with all methods of treatment and surgical procedures and work in any area of the hospital when necessary.
15. Communicate with other departments within the Hospital when necessary, ensuring that follow-up treatment is arranged.
16. Maintain stock, clear cupboards, check expiry dates on bottles, and reorder stock as necessary.
17. Provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues as necessary.
18. Follow all the policies and procedures of the organisation.
