Estates & Maintenance Assistant - To Start January 2025 Hallfield School, Edgbaston, Birmingham £24,612 - £27,428 per annum dependent on experience, skills and qualifications 40 hrs per week 10:00am - 7:00pm, Monday to Friday (with the need to be flexible to occasionally work outside these hours as required), working all year round with 30 days’ annual leave plus paid bank holidays. The Role Hallfield School is seeking to appoint a skilled Estates & Maintenance Assistant to assist with day to day maintenance and compliance of the School estate. This is an integral role within the Estates team and the successful candidate must be confident to lead and complete projects such as minor alterations and refurbishment tasks. NVQ Level 2 or above in any trade such as carpentry, plastering, plumbing or construction would also be advantageous. In addition, any experience in multi-trade skills would be highly desirable. The role offers a varied day, within a busy environment, covering maintenance, grounds work and compliance checks and testing. It would suit an individual who takes pride in their work, is able to show initiative whilst working supportively and flexibly within a team. Key responsibilities of the Estates & Maintenance Assistant include, but are not limited to: Carrying out routine maintenance of school facilities in accordance with schedules or in response to break downs including carpentry; plumbing; basic electrical; decorating; drains/gutters. Assisting the Estates & Maintenance Manager with the running of heating systems. Carrying out safety checks on all school vehicles. Assisting with moving furniture and equipment for school events and carry out car park duties as required. Responding to emergency breakdowns/incidents and provide relief cleaning in emergencies if required. Undertaking weekly and monthly compliance tests including statutory testing of fire safety systems and equipment tests, water flushing, emergency lighting. Carrying out audits and checks as requested by the Director of Estates & Facilities.
