A highly reputable and forward-thinking secondary school in Essex is seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Humanities to join their vibrant and supportive team from September 2025. About the Role:
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver engaging and challenging lessons across the Humanities subjects, with the ability to teach History, Geography, or Religious Studies at Key Stages 3 and 4. There may also be opportunities to teach at Key Stage 5, depending on the candidate’s specialism and experience. The school fosters a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and creativity in teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in Humanities subjects.
* Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback.
* Contribute to the development of schemes of work and department resources.
* Support students’ wider personal development through extra-curricular opportunities and pastoral guidance.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the school to support student achievement.
Requirements:
* A degree in a relevant Humanities subject.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level (including trainee or ECT experience).
* A strong understanding of current curriculum developments and pedagogy in Humanities education.
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* Enthusiasm, resilience, and a proactive attitude towards professional development.
Desirable:
* Experience teaching to A-level.
* Willingness to contribute to whole-school initiatives and extra-curricular activities.
