Position: Ward Manager
We are seeking a dedicated Ward Manager to oversee the daily operations of our ward, ensuring high-quality care and efficient management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical nursing.
The Ward Manager bears the responsibility of overseeing and leading a clinical ward to ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care in compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. This pivotal role entails supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care, managing resources, and cultivating a supportive work environment. The Ward Manager plays a crucial part in upholding patient safety, improving operational efficacy, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
o Provide strong leadership to nursing and support staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
o Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff performance, ensuring adherence to clinical standards.
o Coordinate staff schedules, assignments, and rotations to ensure adequate staffing levels and coverage.
o Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate updates, address concerns, and promote best practices.
o Encourage professional development opportunities and support staff in achieving their career goals.
2. Patient Care Coordination:
o Oversee and coordinate all aspects of patient care within the ward, ensuring high standards of care and patient satisfaction.
o Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
o Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, making adjustments to care plans as necessary.
3. Quality and Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
o Lead initiatives to improve patient care quality, including implementing best practices.
o Conduct audits, quality assessments, and risk management activities.
o Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
4. Resource Management:
o Manage ward budgets, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
o Monitor inventory levels and oversee the procurement of necessary medical supplies.
o Address and resolve conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
5. Education and Training:
o Plan and provide orientation, training, and continuing education programs for nursing staff.
o Stay up-to-date with current nursing practices and advancements in medical technology.
o Promote a culture of learning and professional development within the ward.
6. Patient Advocacy:
o Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and needs are respected.
o Promote patient-centred care practices and engage patients and families in decision making processes.
Working Conditions: Clinical Hospital Ward within a hospital, working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the ward’s needs.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience in nursing home management or a similar role.
* Proficiency in team management and leadership skills.
* Familiarity with dementia care practices.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
