About Our Client
Our client is a well established manufacturing company in the defence and aerospace sector.
Job Description
1. Provide top-tier design engineering expertise within contract terms or service level agreements, including planning, coordinating, and supervising major contracts.
2. Identify and implement improvements to existing product designs, develop and deliver product roadmap changes, and new product developments within the NPD and change management process.
3. Manage the knowledge management system, contributing to its development and ensuring effective knowledge sharing.
4. Address emerging design, quality, safety, and operational issues, identifying causes, barriers, stakeholders, and related issues.
5. Develop procedures and interpret regulatory requirements to ensure product compliance and best practice, monitoring the commercial success of product developments.
6. Analyse the feasibility of proposed complex products and services, making recommendations for development, replacement, or retirement.
7. Oversee a portfolio of change projects, reporting progress to senior colleagues.
8. Recommend improvements to policies, processes, standards, and practices.
9. Evaluate and identify solutions that best meet business and customer needs.
10. Engage in continuous professional development, maintaining a deep understanding of technology, regulations, and industry best practices.
The Successful Applicant
Essential Criteria:
1. Extensive mechanical engineering experience within the aerospace industry.
2. Experience with system-level integration, finite element analysis, and strong mechanical skills.
3. Background and knowledge in materials science.
4. People management/ supervisory experience.
5. BSc/MSc in Engineering, preferably mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Desirable:
1. Chartered Engineer status - not essential
2. Experience in product safety
