Hinchingbrooke Hospital has merged with Peterborough and Stamford since the 1stof April 2017 and have formed the North West Anglia NHS Trust. The Urology department have merged and have nine full time Consultant Urologists so there will be significant exposure to clinical work.
This post is ideal for candidates who want to gain exposure to Urology before applying for higher specialist training. At least 1 year experience in Urology or General Surgery would be desirable.
This is an ideal post for an individual seeking either broad experience in Urology or considering a Urological career. We perform operative procedures on a regular basis will include Scrotal Surgery, Flexible Cystoscopies, TRUS Prostate Biopsies, TURBTs, Rigid Cystoscopies, Laser and Saline Prostatectomies, Rigid and Flexible Ureteroscopies and Laser Stone Fragmentation, Extra-Anatomic Stent Insertions and ESWL.
To maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of Urological conditions.
To actively participate in both Departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance.
To provide inpatient care of patients with Urological problems under the supervision of the Registrars and Consultants.
To provide teaching to medical students and non-medical staff.
Undertaking audit of his/her work and contributing to national audits.
Participating in continuing professional development and in the Trust’s appraisal and assessment processes.
Management of Urology Emergency Admissions when on-call under the supervision of the Registrars and Consultant on Call as appropriate.

The job plan will be tailored to the successful candidates' needs and will include clinical sessions which will be supervised such as clinics, flexible cystoscopy lists, theatres etc.as well as daily ward rounds and day to day management of inpatients.
There is an active research programme that will lead to the successful completion of at least one audit project by the candidate. There are also weekly teaching sessions available to the Junior Doctors.
