About us
Who we are:
Situated in Heckmondwike, a market town, Brookroyd Surgery is on the commuter belt, with access to local amenities and close to excellent schools, including Heckmondwike Grammar school. We are easily accessible from Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale, and Huddersfield. We are an established training practice with a list size of approximately 10,000 patients and are rated Good by CQC. Alongside our experienced Doctor team, we also have 2 x Pharmacists, a social prescriber, and an experienced Nursing team that lead on Chronic Disease management.
Staff well-being is important to our Management team. Therefore we work SMART and keep everyone's workload manageable. We have highly skilled and experienced administration and reception staff supporting our clinical team.
Job responsibilities
We aim to be an enthusiastic, well-organised practice providing good quality care at least most of the time! This requires commitment, and we hope you can join with us in that philosophy. Work in general practice can be challenging; expect it to be difficult at times. You will be supported by your mentor and the practice, but seeing patients in general practice involves you having to make some decisions without the benefit of immediate advice from seniors. Coping with uncertainty and managing risk are important skills to learn.
Regarding workload - you will never be asked to do more than any partner, and usually, it will be considerably less.
The working day in general practice can seem long. You will have surgeries in the morning and afternoon typically. You are required to see a set number of patients in each of your daily rotas. Full detail will be discussed and agreed.
There will be time between surgeries for visits, lunch, meetings, and administration. It may seem that there is spare time; we ask that you make good use of this.
