What you'll be doing:
In recent years, the People’s Partnership has embarked on an ambitious and exciting growth strategy which has led to a significant transformation of the business. You will provide insight and challenge to ensure business leaders develop, agree, and deliver on these ambitious, strategically aligned and risk disciplined plans.
The Risk Business Partner, part of the 2nd line Group risk function, provides critical support to the Investments Team by helping them navigate complex risks and ensuring that risk management processes are integrated into decision-making. This will be to enhance portfolio stability, optimize risk-return outcomes, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational frameworks.
1. Serve as an independent risk advisor to the investment team, providing expertise on risk-related topics and delivering the group risk framework within the department (e.g., risk modelling, asset allocation).
2. Participate in regular meetings with portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to discuss risk implications of investment strategies.
3. Help investment teams make informed risk decisions.
Risk Identification and Assessment
1. Collaborate with investment professionals to identify risks related to our investment model.
2. Conduct thorough risk assessments for new and existing risks.
3. Evaluate external factors (economic trends, geopolitical events, etc.) that might impact investment risk.
Risk Monitoring and Reporting
1. Develop and maintain risk monitoring tools and dashboards to track risk.
2. Provide regular risk reporting to senior leadership and investment teams, highlighting key risk metrics and trends.
3. Ensure investments align with pre-defined risk limits and corporate objectives.
Risk Mitigation and Control
1. Work with the investment team to develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
2. Propose adjustments to the risk profile to stay within risk tolerance limits.
Governance and Compliance
1. Act as a liaison between the investment team and risk management functions to ensure all decisions are aligned with the firm’s risk tolerance.
2. Assist in preparing for audits and reviews related to risk management practices.
What we’re looking for:
1. Experience in a first- or second-line risk role.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Good attention to detail and accuracy.
4. Good IT skills (Microsoft applications and GRC systems).
5. A team player who can collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to achieve objectives.
6. Experience of challenging and changing the business.
7. Organised and able to work with a matrixed team and shared resources to organise the teams’ workload.
