Job Overview
We are seeking a suitably qualified and dedicated Early Years Practitioner with excellent communication skills to join our nursery team. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the development of children. You will be responsible for planning and implementing educational activities that cater to the individual needs of each child, ensuring they thrive both socially and academically.
We aim to provide a safe, happy and caring environment where children can learn skills, values and knowledge laying a secure foundation for future learning. You must hold an appropriate childcare qualification (NNEB, BTEC, NVQ), with experience of working with 0-5-years and a sound understanding of child development and learning.
As a positive role model, you will be expected to plan, provide and deliver safe, creative play opportunities, nurturing and inspiring the individual needs of the children in your care.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Care and supervision of the children with regard to their developmental needs and personal hygiene/care routines.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children aged 0-5 years.
* Attend to the welfare of children in own key group, monitor, record and evaluate progress and response to learning activities.
* Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents on their development.
* Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to build strong relationships and develop a positive learning and working environment.
* Promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour in a positive manner, encouraging cooperation and respect among children.
* Lead activities that enhance children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
* Ensure the health and safety of children, by being alert to possible dangers, e.g. sleeping arrangements, choking procedures, dietary requirements, allergies.
* Maintain accurate records of children's progress and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies.
Qualifications and Experience
* A recognised Early Years level 3 Childcare qualification is essential.
* Paediatric First Aid or willingness to complete within first 3 months.
* Previous experience working with young children in a nursery or similar setting.
* A good standard of education including English and Maths.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
* Knowledge of policies and codes of practice/legislation.
* Knowledge of child development and learning.
* Skills and expertise in understanding the needs of children and what motivates them.
* Knowledge of EYFS and ability to apply this effectively in supporting children in the setting.
* Experience of implementing agreed behaviour management strategies to recognise children's efforts and achievements.
* Good organisational skills.
