Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist
An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Registered Children's Nurse to join our Paediatric Diabetes team.
You will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, delivering a high-quality service to our patients.
You should have excellent communication skills, be effective in multidisciplinary team working, and be able to deliver both group education and individual interventions.
Relevant training will be supported under the lead of Professor May NG OBE.
You will be required to undertake teaching and training of other health professionals once appropriate training is undertaken.

Main duties of the job
1. Act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the patients, carers, and multi-professional team within their specialist service.
2. Work alongside other Specialist nurses/Matron to ensure the development and delivery of a high-quality service.
3. Directly or indirectly influence all aspects of care and management of patients within the service/specialty.
4. Deliver high-quality, clinically effective care and patient experience, utilizing research and in collaboration with colleagues.
5. Work with the multi-professional team to manage the care of our patients with diabetes to provide seamless care.
6. Manage own delegated caseload of patients, as appropriate within the specialty, delivering individualized and personalized direct patient care while facilitating the development of self-care and knowledge.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Professional Registration: RN (Child / RSCN)
* Post-registration qualification in Diabetes care or evidence of further study in the same.
* Degree level study in nursing related subject.
* ENB 998 up to date mentorship course or equivalent.
* Has achieved or be working towards Masters level qualification in nursing related subject.
Other
* Ability to carry out general nursing procedures.
* Role involves sitting, standing, walking, home visiting, driving, and school visits.
* Involves frequent periods of concentration on patient assessment/scheduling of visits during record keeping and planning of care.
Skills
* Up to date clinical skills to ensure quality of services being provided.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Able to prioritize and use initiative.
* Ability to work autonomously & as a team member.
* Be effective in implementation of best practice and reviewing and monitoring changes in practice.
* IT expertise including use of Excel, Word, and Twinkle.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of Diabetes management, including inpatient and outpatient care.
* Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge supported by specialist clinical/managerial training.
* Effective communicator, able to communicate both complex and sensitive information.
* Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD.
* Clinical experience at Band 5 or above.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
