Job Title: Chef Location: South Cerney, Cirencester (GL7) Reports To: Care Home Manager / Head Chef Key Responsibilities: Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and serve meals that are nutritious, balanced, and tailored to the dietary requirements and preferences of residents. Create menus in consultation with residents and staff, taking into account special diets, allergies, and cultural preferences. Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on time. Dietary Management: Understand and cater to specific dietary needs, such as diabetic, gluten-free, low-sodium, or pureed diets. Work closely with healthcare staff to ensure residents nutritional needs are met. Kitchen Management: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and food storage areas. Ensure all food is prepared and stored in line with health and safety regulations. Monitor and manage kitchen supplies and stock levels, placing orders as necessary. Compliance and Standards: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles. Maintain records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and stock rotation. Stay compliant with care home policies and local health authority regulations. Team Collaboration: Supervise and support kitchen assistants and other staff, ensuring teamwork and efficiency. Participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay informed about residents needs and organizational updates. Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a care home, healthcare, or similar environment. Formal culinary training or equivalent experience (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery). Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate). Strong understanding of dietary requirements and nutrition for elderly or vulnerable individuals. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
