De Gournay is looking for a highly creative, experienced and motivated Architect to join our creative HQ in London. As director of architecture and visual merchandising, you will be responsible for designing new de Gournay showrooms around the world, and also maintaining and evolving the interiors and visual merchandising of our existing global showrooms.

Role
As director of architecture and visual merchandising at de Gournay, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of de Gournay’s visual merchandising and showroom architecture/interiors across its global showrooms (London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Beirut, Shanghai (opening soon) and Mumbai (opening soon)). You will collaborate with the executive leadership, marketing teams and design teams to align showroom design and visual merchandising with de Gournay’s overall business objectives. You will be responsible for leading a team which includes architects, interior architects, interior designers and interior stylists. This role is for an individual with outstanding creativity and passion for architecture who is able to create unique and individual interiors.
Key responsibilities:
1. Design new showrooms and oversee regular renovations, updates and improvements to existing showrooms.
2. Work to budgets without compromising quality and creativity.
3. Design and oversee store layouts, ensuring optimal product placement, customer flow, and brand storytelling through visual elements.
4. Extensive knowledge of suppliers and materials.
5. Attend site visits when needed, meeting with suppliers and contractors.
6. Actively build, maintain and grow relationships with existing and new suppliers.
7. Guide the development of both permanent fixtures and temporary displays that reflect seasonal promotions and new product launches.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, retail technologies, and visual merchandising innovations.
9. Monitor and maintain consistency of brand representation across all retail locations, (e.g., flagship stores, pop-ups, exhibitions, events).
10. Collaborate with marketing teams to implement creative visual campaigns in stores.
11. Follow up regularly with showrooms to ensure visual merchandising standards are maintained across all locations.
Skills and qualifications:
1. Interior architecture degree level qualification – BA (Hons) or equivalent.
2. Eight plus years’ of experience preferred within a luxury brand or interior architecture firm, preferably focused on high-end retails and/or residential interiors.
3. Experience managing a team.
4. Proficient in AutoCAD.
5. Proficient in 3Ds Max or SketchUp.
6. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign as a must, Illustrator is a bonus).
7. Ability to draw and sketch.
8. An exceptional eye for design, colour and style.
9. Collaborative team player with a focus on building strong working relationships.
10. Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
11. Creative problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
12. Positive, energetic attitude with a solutions-oriented mindset.
13. Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple moving parts, often more than one at a time.
14. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
15. Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel as required.
