Who we are
Evening Standard Ltd. is a media owner that provides Culture & News for Londoners everywhere.
Through our story-first digital centric publishing, we deliver content across digital, audio, video, and social platforms and we have a brand new weekly print product, The London Standard.
We are based in Finsbury Square, London.
About you
You have multiplatform experience in print, digital and social media design, and are confident designing and creating assets for advertorial features, online and digital display ads, email campaigns, social campaigns and more.
The successful candidate must have strong attention to detail, and the ability to identify creative consistency across colour, typography, composition and layout, and other essential design principles. You will be excellent at idea generation and visualisation while having the ability to create engaging visuals that adhere to brand guidelines.
Skills and experience
* 5+ years industry experience.
* Demonstrable ability to think strategically in creative ideation
* Familiarity with the operations and procedures of a content production team
* Knowledge of digital trends, online media, social networks and digital editions as well as a solid knowledge of print work
* Thorough understanding of digital design including UI/UX, and an interest in inventing new experiences for all devices
* Proven background in designing high-quality content for premium brands with a strong portfolio showing visual and interactive design work
* Passion for design, branding and typography
* Previous experience of working in a demanding and fast paced environment with strong time management, people management and multitasking abilities
* Experience of selling-in creative ideas
* Advanced level of proficiency in Keynote, Adobe Creative Suite (including PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, After Effects and Premiere Pro or Final Cut)
* Technical aptitude and a familiarity with HTML, Javascript and CSS
* Proven understanding of technical builds, including scope and budget
* Proven understanding of print techniques
The team and role purpose
The Standard Studio is our award-winning in-house studio and responsible for creating a wide range of commercial solutions for clients across all platforms. As a key member of the Standard Studio creative team, this role will be pivotal in creating best in class design for commercial partners. Having an excellent understanding of what works for both client and reader, the role will help develop great design, drive creativity and offer advice, recommendation and guidance to produce the best possible design outcomes.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
* In collaboration with the Head of commercial content and design, create ideas and executions for content campaigns
* Collaborate with other members of The Standard Studio and sales colleagues to deliver client-specific campaign concepts
* Produce storyboards, wireframes and detailed mock-ups necessary to guide development of beautiful, original and creative experiences from concept to implementation
* Working with Project Management to adhere closely to all deadlines for deliverables in pre-sale and post-sale
* Create digital and print designs that follow business, brand and user best practices, including the design and production of site layouts, interactives, animations and website development
