Trainee Quantity Surveyor – 2025 - Cambridge

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will join the Building team’s award-winning public-sector projects which have included Bath Spa University, the Royal London Hospital and Bristol schools. In the private sector, our focus is on commercial and mixed-use buildings.
What you'll do:
1. Supporting project delivery by managing subcontractors and adhering to the timelines of the project
2. Assisting with the procurement of sub-contract packages and building strong and lasting relationships with subcontractors
3. Working within the projects commercial team, measuring levels of works done
4. Liaising with site team to assess completion of works and clear for payment
5. Completing site measurements and records, day work sheets, labour and plant returns
6. Preparing contract documents including scopes and sub-contract warranties
7. Working with numerical data in multiple software programmes to record payment applications and payment certificates
8. Learning to manage the commercial success of a project alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and construction professionals.
What you'll bring to the role:
1. Level 3 qualification such as A level, BTEC National Diploma or equivalent
2. 5 GCSEs including Maths and English grade 4 or above
3. Enjoyment of working with other people
4. Comfort with various computer software packages and numerical data
5. Enthusiasm to learn and proactiveness in your approach to work
6. Keen to bring new ideas to help us innovate and work better

What qualification will you be studying towards?
Initially, you will be studying a level 4 qualification in Quantity Surveying at a nominated local college or University, with the plan to progress to a level 6 qualification afterwards.
