Project Manager
Managing infrastructure projects, ensuring the smooth execution and delivery of contract scope, to cost and to time. Managing the contractor/client/end user relationships and ensuring the daily operation of the depot can continue whilst works are ongoing.
Management of key stakeholders, which include Network Rail, Primary contractors, Depot operations managers, and Department for Transport representatives.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver projects safely, to time, cost and quality applying robust project lifecycle methodologies such as APM or PRINCE 2.
* Provide a professional and effective project management service, including project governance and reporting in accordance within required processes and timelines.
* Be responsible for project development, including project scope, goals and milestones and definition of project team roles.
* Establish and implement the project plan, including schedule of all tasks, key milestones and resource management.
* Manage project teams and maintain effective collaborative working between internal colleagues and external contractors.
* Track project progress and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain effective governance including technical working groups and Executive steering groups.
* Manage project risks including financial, reputational, quality, environmental and health and safety, and escalate issues effectively.
* Monitor project budgets and report costs against forecast spend profiles.
* Ensure that value for money is achieved when delivering projects.
* Facilitate lessons learnt reviews at project completion.
* Ensure project outcomes align with WMT’s strategic objectives.
* Ensure that WMT remains compliant with relevant changes in regulation and legislation.
* Maintain own professional development in project management.
Required Skills:
* Chartered Engineer or similar level of qualifications and proven work experience
* Experienced in delivering projects using APM or PRINCE2
* Knowledge of Contracts and Contract Management, specifically NEC4 Contract
* Experience in using recognised contract management techniques (e.g. CEMAR)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Familiarity with project management software and financial systems is advantageous.
Preferred Skills:
* Experience or knowledge of the UK rail industry, including rail safety standards and compliance requirements.
Assistant Project Manager
Supporting the Project Manager, delivering infrastructure projects, ensuring the smooth execution and delivery of contract scope, to cost and to time. Managing the contractor/client/end user relationships and ensuring the daily operation of the depot can continue whilst works are ongoing.
Management of key stakeholders, which include Network Rail, Primary contractors, Depot operations managers, and Department for Transport representatives.
Responsibilities:
* Helping to administer contract elements related to the delivery of the infrastructure project, ensuring adherence to the project programme and closely collaborating with the Project Manager.
* Administration of the delivery of construction documents produced by the appointed Design and Build contractor, reviewing detail and ensuring a high quality of work.
* Managing communication and change control between stakeholders, including the client, the contractor and the Depot user population.
* Checking and ensuring robust implementation of the contractor's programme.
* Preparing planning application documents including the environmental statement.
* Promotion of an exemplary Health and Safety culture.
Required Skills:
* Graduate Engineer or similar level of qualifications and proven work experience.
