Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Referral Unit)

At Twenty 4 Seven Education we are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a referral unit school in Gillingham, Kent. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs (SEN) and challenging behaviors, many of whom have been referred due to difficulties accessing mainstream education. Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other complex needs.
2. Work 1:1 or in small groups to assist with academic, social, and emotional development.
3. Implement behavior management strategies, promoting a positive and structured environment.
4. Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to develop individualized learning plans.
5. Encourage and motivate students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
6. Support the wider team in fostering a safe, nurturing environment for all students.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with SEN children in an educational or care setting.
2. A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.
3. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
4. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies to support emotional regulation.
5. Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
6. A passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on young people's lives.
Desirable:
1. Experience in a referral or pupil referral unit (PRU) setting.
2. Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, or SEN-specific training.
3. Team Teach or other de-escalation training (training can be provided).
