Medical Services
Based in Sheldon/Kenyon ward on Mondays to Fridays 09:00 - 17:00. There are no on-call duties but the role will involve day-to-day in-patient care including:
1. Clerking of admissions
2. Assessment and formulation of management/discharge plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Mental capacity assessment
4. Management of acutely deteriorating patients
5. Palliative care
6. Meetings and case conferences with families
All the doctors working within the Medical Unit will work as a TEAM. Flexibility in cross over arrangements is expected at times of annual leave, sickness and study leave, or any other absences of colleagues.
Responsibilities also include:
1. Undertaking supervision of junior doctors with the care and management of patients on the medical wards or outlying wards.
2. Providing cover for general ward duties, e.g., when trainee doctors' obligatory training coincides with other medical staff commitments.
3. Assisting with inpatient or day-case patients for intravenous therapies (supervision and prescribing) or specific endocrine tests; liaison with nurse practitioners involved.
