We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer to be based out of our London Gateway Port in Stanford le Hope, Essex. This position will lead the design, development, and implementation of software solutions that enhance operational efficiency across DP World UK Ports and Terminals. You will serve as a technical and strategic resource to the development team, ensuring alignment with business objectives and adherence to industry best practices. Coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable and robust software systems while managing, mentoring, and developing team members. We are looking for someone with software development experience, as well as team lead/line management experience. Ideally with Java and .Net experience in a full stack role, we are looking for someone who has good knowledge of cloud development and web development technologies. Location: Stanford le Hope, Essex Hours: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week Contract: Permanent How you will contribute •Lead the end-to-end software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality deliverables. •Stay abreast of emerging technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions. •Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications. •Plan, allocate, and manage resources effectively to meet project timelines. •Mentor and guide team members to build technical skills and encourage professional growth. •Line Manage direct team members, including performance management •Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive team environment. •Architect scalable, reliable, and secure systems that align with business needs. •Ensure best practices in containerization, DevOps, and cloud-based development. •Define and enforce standards for code quality, system performance, and testing procedures. •Drive the adoption of standards and methodologies for software development. •Conduct thorough reviews and ensure system testing aligns with requirements. •Maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture, technical designs, and user guides. •Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for deployed systems. •Travel between UK Ports & Terminals will be required according to business need. What you will bring Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in .NET and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Strong experience in modern web frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue). In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and associated services. Familiarity with database technologies, including MS-SQL Server and NoSQL databases. Strong foundation in DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and TDD. Business Knowledge: Understanding of logistics and container terminal systems is advantageous. Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrate capability to be able to manage and develop a team Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and strong decision-making capabilities. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
