Chartered Structural Engineer
Vertical Recruitment is partnering with a well-established, leading multi-disciplinary independent private practice, founded in 1978, to recruit a Chartered Structural Engineer for their dynamic Manchester team. This is a full-time, hands-on role that offers a diverse workload, supporting both local and national Engineering teams on a variety of projects. Key responsibilities include conducting structural surveys, designing for residential, commercial, and industrial properties, providing expert advice to the insurance sector, and contributing to regional frameworks.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the Engineering Line Manager, manage projects within your scope, and offer guidance and training to team members. This position is ideal for a Chartered Engineer with a strong sense of ambition and a commitment to excellent customer service. You will be responsible for the following:
* Undertaking of technical and feasibility studies including organising site investigations
* To use a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations
* Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects
* Preparation of contract documents, management of tenders
* Resolving design and development problems
* Management of budget and project resources
* Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings
* Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services.
* Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects
* Contribute to the company’s marketing objectives, targets and initiatives
* Assisting director with training and development of the engineering team
* Inspection / Supervision of construction work on site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claim and practical completion.
* To provide supervision and support to ICE/IStructE candidates to promote knowledge and understanding.
* At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations
