Role Overview: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who may require additional guidance in managing behaviour and building positive relationships within the school environment. Key Responsibilities: Student Engagement and Behavioural Support : Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, assisting them in developing self-regulation strategies and building positive behaviours in a school setting. Classroom Assistance : Work alongside teaching staff to promote an inclusive, respectful classroom environment. Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and support students during lessons, helping them stay engaged and focused on their learning. Implementing Behavioural Plans : Follow behaviour management plans tailored to individual students, applying de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, and structured support to encourage positive choices. Mentoring and Relationship Building : Establish positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model to help them build self-confidence, resilience, and respectful communication skills. Collaboration with Teaching and Support Staff : Work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies, share observations, and contribute to the development of individual support plans. Ideal Candidate Profile: Experience in Behaviour Support : Previous experience in behaviour support, youth work, or a similar setting is highly advantageous, especially in working with secondary school students. Excellent Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively engage with students and staff. Patience and Empathy : A calm, understanding approach when working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, paired with the ability to remain consistent and fair.
