About the team
Shock team:
QinetiQ’s shock testing facility is based in the Rosyth South Arm and is an integral part of product development. Tests demonstrate whether the equipment will be able to function at the required level after a specified level of shock.
What will I be doing?
The primary scope of the role is focused to ensure the operation of the QinetiQ Shock Facility sited at the South Arm, Rosyth. You will undertake a variety of tasks and be responsible for supporting the facility technician and technical lead with:
* Safe delivery of the shock test programmes, including customer trials;
* Outfitting and safe installation of customer equipment and rigs upon the two test tables;
* Undertaking planned and reactive maintenance of the facility to ensure day-to-day operational downtime is minimised.
* You will be undertaking the SCQF Level 7 Engineering Asset Lifecycle and Maintenance Apprenticeship. The training provider will be Fife College.
Academic requirements:
* You will need to have obtained or be predicted 4 x National 5s, at Grades A or B one of which must be Maths.
Additional requirements:
* Have a passion for mechanical engineering and testing.
* A practical interest in experimental instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
* Good problem solving skills and ability to think logically.
* Excellent interpersonal / communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
