Job Description NavyX is an innovation and technology accelerator, investigating emerging technologies with a view to an initial purchase/trial of equipment/concepts/processes in order to integrate and prove viability within the naval operational construct. Where successful enhancement of naval operations can be achieved, such equipment would be presented to a sponsor and on to a delivery agent in order to scale and deliver for the Navy. In particular, they will be required to; plan, monitor, conduct, assure, analyse and report delivery of experimentation activity. They will ensure that experimentation is aligned with project goals and is designed, conducted and analysed in order to assess project benefits and outcomes. Such trials will likely cover several projects and domains, so are complex in nature and must be closely coordinated to ensure the objectives are met. Person specification Responsibilities Include Operate within the NavyX Experimentation Plans Team to co-ordinate and deliver coherent experimentation, aligned with NavyX priorities and best practice process. Design, conduct and analyse experimentation activity to generate evidence and relevant information to inform decisions on project direction, spiral development. Ensure experimentation is conducted in a safe manner, effectively utilising all available equipment and enablers. Support the provision of planning, evidence and assurance to meet business case approval, if applicable providing expertise business case scope, analysis and drafting to a standard suitable for submission. Supporting the Experimentation Plans TL in managing enabling contracts to facilitate experimentation. Essential Demonstrable skills across general management, including budget management, planning, resource selection and health and safety. Experience of managing diverse teams in a complex environment and for large programmes. Attention to detail and ability to critically evaluate information gathered across multiple sources, recommending improvements as necessary. Evidence of strong stakeholder engagement skills with a proven track record of engaging and managing multiple stakeholders, tailoring messages appropriately, influencing others and gaining their agreement and cooperation. Experience in structured programme and project management is essential, as you will be acting as a key interface with programme and project managers when issues arise. The ability to work without supervision, exercise judgement and good organisational skills, and show determination in the pursuit of objectives. Create experimentation plans to gather evidence across all DLODs in preparation for moving the project further into development be that to a delivery agent for bringing into Core, Capability Sponsors for requirements setting or NavyX Projects for development. Provide leadership of experimentation coherence and management, instigating and driving activities to ensure comprehensive and proactive issues management. Provide options to address complex issues and manage through to resolution, escalating to the NavyX Team Leader for key decisions. Manage external experimentation reviews and reporting to achieve timely assessments and assurance prior to key decision points if applicable. Analyse the outcomes of experimentation and develop plans to address recommendations. Develop and articulate the safety wrap to ensure the experimentation is conducted safely with safe people, equipment, places and activity.
