Job Summary
This exciting post is for band a 3 Health Care Assistant, who is qualified in Level 3 NVQ within Paediatrics or is currently undertaking their training in Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Health Care support. (Or relevant experience).
The role will require working across the Paediatric teams in the Roxburgh Children's Outpatient's department and the Children's Community Nursing team to support the efficient and effective organisation of the departments and the delivery of the service across paediatrics providing a service for West Norfolk and surrounding area.
If required you may be asked to support paediatric services across the trust.
You will work predominantly Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, but may be required to work Saturdays.
You must be able to liaise with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and external service providers, in providing care to service users; providing good communication with the families who access the service in a helpful and polite manner.
You will be undertaking clinical interventions once signed off as competent, depending on clinical area and acting as a chaperone when required. This includes being venepuncture trained.
Main Duties of the Job
Able to undertake clinical interventions such as weight, height and head circumference measurement, recording basic observations including pulse, respiratory rate, temperature and blood pressure. Be able to take blood, urine, sputum and wound specimens under the direction of senior team members.
To support the care of children and young people with a variety of conditions, both short term and lifelong conditions in partnership with the patient and their families and MDT including non-QEH providers.
Maintain accurate patient documentation considering legal aspects, confidentiality, and management information requirements. Raising any concerns with the registered nursing team and the medical team as required.
To communicate effectively with patient, parent/carers and the wider MDT to ensure continuity of care.
Demonstrate an awareness of safeguarding issues, be able to assess risk and refer to professional teams as appropriate.
Participate in team meetings, sharing knowledge and ideas to improve the service provided with the department.
