A Regional Civil contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work on a range of civil engineering projects across the North West region, including Civil Infrastructure, Groundworks, Highways, and Structures.
Additionally, we are seeking a degree-qualified candidate with at least two years of experience within the Civil Engineering industry and familiarity with NEC contracts.
Principal Duties & Accountabilities:
1. Understand the contractual requirements of project documents, including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record changes. Coordinate any responses required with the Commercial Manager.
2. Liaise with the client, client representatives, and other third parties on commercial issues, including the agreement of additional funds.
3. Cost management for project/section of works.
4. Understand allowances for elements of work (preliminaries, materials, subcontract, etc.).
5. Understand forecast costs to completion.
6. Value management for project/section of works.
7. Prepare interim and final accounts.
8. Understand true value to the end of the reporting period and compare with actual costs expended.
9. Change management for sections of works, recording changes, and allocation of responsibility.
10. Evaluate and recover any change that is not risk/liability, including recovery from third parties.
11. Manage known and newly identified risks and opportunities for the best project return, in collaboration with the operations team.
12. Identify and implement mitigation measures.
13. Procurement for project/section of works.
14. Ensure all involved in procurement understand allowances for items they are responsible for and the procedures to be followed.
15. Prepare subcontract documentation, issue inquiries, and negotiate agreements, including interim and final accounts.
16. Prepare and issue monthly cost/value reconciliations and cost/forecast reconciliations.
17. Prepare cash forecasts.
18. Prepare quarterly forecasts.
19. Identify, prepare, and negotiate claims.
20. Adhere to policies and procedures.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Control of cost, value, cash management, change, and risk on a section or whole project.
2. Timely detailed reporting to Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager.
3. Timely procurement of subcontractors in accordance with company procedures.
4. Contribute towards continued improvement within the business.
