The Opportunity At Medivet Alfreton you will be working as part of a large, driven and dedicated team of ten vets, a fantastic nurse team of twelve nurses and a dedicated team of five receptionists. All looked after by a practice manager who, as a head nurse, you would be supporting with looking after the nursing team. Many of the vet team are certificate holders or are in the process of gaining them (specialising in dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, emergency & critical care and ophthalmology) The practice is well-equipped with seven consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, separate suites for diagnostics, dental facilities, digital x-ray, two staff rooms and much more. Our hospital works to high standards throughout and is dedicated to delivering amazing client and patient care while also offering team members the support to grow and specialise. This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week over five days with 1:6 full weekends. In This Role You Will Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team. Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients. Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity. Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries. Deliver patient monitoring and care. Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team. Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care. Dispense and check medication. Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards. Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes. Engage, coach and develop your team. Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice across practices and the wider Medivet community. Your Skills and Experience RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse. Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care. Able to confidently lead a clinical team. Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations. Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
