We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Gateshead Community Learning Disability Team. Are you an enthusiastic, creative and compassionate clinical psychologist who would like to work with adults with learning disabilities and those who support them in the community? We are a busy, friendly multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality assessment, formulation and intervention to adults with learning disabilities who are experiencing significant challenges in relation to their mental health, physical health and behaviours that challenge. We work alongside our MDT colleagues and partnership agencies to support the psychological wellbeing of service users and their families/carers who live in Gateshead. We provide psychological consultation, specialist assessments and a range of both direct and indirect psychological interventions. The post holder will have a leadership role in formulations, consultation, scaffolding, supervision and training to MDT colleagues. We regularly provide teaching and training in psychological ways of working and there will be opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical work. You will also support the team in carrying out learning disability assessments. As a team we value clinicians who are creative, flexible, curious and genuine. We are thoughtful about the wellbeing of our colleagues and keen to make this a collaborative development opportunity for a clinical psychologist who wishes to gain a solid foundation in a community learning disability setting. We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career. We are a small psychology resource who are supportive, caring and compassionate. As a service, we have an established in house training programme and robust supervision support to ensure the ongoing development of staff. We have a leadership team who are keen to ensure the learning disability pathway continually evolves and develops to provide safe and high quality care.
