The Role
As an Electrician, you will handle a wide range of electrical services for both residential and commercial properties, working on consumer unit upgrades, complete rewires, emergency lighting, fault diagnosis, and essential repairs. This role requires proactive customer engagement to ensure positive service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Maintenance & Repairs: Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems, including fire alarms, door entry systems, and emergency lighting, adhering to high technical and safety standards.
2. Renewable Energy Systems: Following comprehensive training, manage maintenance and repairs for air source heat pumps and Solar PV systems, gaining hands-on experience in renewable technology.
3. PAT Testing and Compliance: Complete PAT testing, heating and hot water system wiring, and commercial lighting and power system maintenance.
4. Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate work records and submit all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
5. Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service, addressing any customer queries effectively and professionally.
6. Team Support and Mentorship: Assist colleagues and supervise apprentices, allocating tasks, ensuring safety standards, and providing mentorship.
Associated Skills
1. Conduct commissioning, testing, verification, and certification processes across all electrical tasks.
2. Support with basic plumbing and minor building works as needed.
3. Handle minor asbestos-related tasks safely (following full training).
4. Contribute to sustainable waste practices, recycling appropriately.
Essential Skills & Requirements
1. Experience: Proven track record as a qualified electrician across domestic and commercial environments.
2. Knowledge: Strong understanding of Electricity at Work regulations (BS 7671), NICEIC guidelines, and Health & Safety legislation.
3. Technical Skills: Skilled in fault diagnosis, inspection, testing, and producing compliance documentation.
4. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with customers and colleagues.
Qualifications
1. Education: NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation Work (or equivalent)
2. Certification: City & Guilds 2360/2365, relevant to the current BS7671 edition
3. 18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382-15)
4. Inspection and Testing (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent)
Additional Requirements
1. Full Driving Licence: Ability to drive a company vehicle with confidence.
2. On-Call: Willingness to join an on-call rota for emergency situations outside regular working hours.
3. Health and Safety: Responsible for personal and team safety, adhering to Association policies and current legislation.
