The role
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the ANS infrastructure. Their duties include maintaining the service availability of essential ANS Platform components. They will collaborate with the broader infrastructure team to update the environment through patching schedules and firmware upgrades, and coordinate with vendors to ensure compatibility and support.
This individual will also serve as a point of escalation within the cloud infrastructure team, offering their expertise in VMWare vSphere, VMWare NSX, Veeam, and Nimble/3par/StoreOnce storage arrays, along with UCS Cloud computing architecture. They will partner with Senior Infrastructure Engineers and Architects to execute our product roadmap and ongoing improvement initiatives.
What will I be doing?
* Provide 3rd line support to the eCloud platform working as an escalation point for the support team.
* Perform platform auditing and review tasks.
* Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively.
* Work with other technical teams to provide industry-leading support to our customers.
* Define processes and create detailed documentation.
* Assist with capacity management and platform growth.
* Maintain good interdepartmental relationships with other technical and commercial teams through regular interaction and collaboration.
* Ensure our infrastructure is up to date by performing patching and firmware upgrades.
* Work with vendors to raise escalations and troubleshoot issues.
* Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
* Limited volumes of out-of-hours work assisting with projects on core systems outside of core business hours.
* Assist senior engineers with project implementation.
What does success look like?
* Work with the infrastructure team to achieve 100% platform uptime.
* Hit customer response SLAs.
What will I bring to the role?
* Previous experience as an infrastructure engineer working in an enterprise or multi-tenant environment.
* Experience with VMware 6.7 and 7.0.
* Understanding of fundamental computer architecture, networking, virtualization, storage, and operating system concepts.
* Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to produce good quality documentation.
* Scripting abilities in Powershell and PowerCLI.
* Willingness to do an on-call rota.
