What you will do
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Apprentice Instructor to be based from our Apprentice Training Academy in Port Talbot. The role will be expected to cover all South Wales sites in the delivery of training.Instructors are subject matter experts who are responsible for the design, and delivery, assessment and evaluation of high impact learning events (either directly and/or via third parties as appropriate).
Jobholders work in partnership with a range of internal and /or external stakeholders to ensure that training approaches are efficient and effective and meet business needs and/or the requirements of national qualification bodies, ensuring transfer of learning with optimum return on training investment.Working within the Apprentice Training team, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to learners, providing a positive learner experience and ensuring the team KPI's are met. Instructors are responsible for the delivery and assessment of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ).

Ensure all safety, health and environment requirements, including both TATA and relevant third party regulatory bodies all fully met with regard to all development / training activities (e.g. Competent Authority, HSE, Lloyds Audit etc.).

Become a resident expert in legislation and best practice in the field.

To maintain knowledge of all relevant Safety, Health and Environment Standards
:
Design training materials to enable individuals to successfully complete a programme of learning as defined by the relevant functional platform/capability framework and /or national awarding body

Maintain and improve the training environment, ensuring that facilities, equipment, tools and materials are maintained safely and are fit for use
:
Deliver training effectively, demonstrating insight into learning techniques and adapting delivery style appropriately to the learner
:
Understand the requirements of external accrediting bodies and be occupationally competent to assess the knowledge and skill requirements.
:
Judge whether the total evidence is sufficient to consider the candidate competent.

Inform learners and managers in the unit of training outcomes
What you will need
Essential:

Minimum 5 years of machine workshop experience (lathe/miller).
:
Completion of a time:served apprenticeship.
:
Previous experience operating and training individuals on mechanical workshop machines.
:
Educated to HNC/HND level.
:
Plant knowledge.
:
A good understanding of the education system.

Ability to deliver mechanical courses, including topics such as pumps, gearboxes, shaft alignment, and basic fitting.

Train the Trainer qualification.
:
Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with SAP and People Link.

Understanding of competency processes.
:
Knowledge of the NVQ process at Levels 2, 3, and 4.
:
NVQ assessor TAQA trained or equivalent.
