We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic IT and IG lead for our Practice. The post-holder will support us in developing the use of IT and our clinical system (SystmOne) to enable it to meet national and local targets, maximise income and improve patient care. You will need to be self-motivated, flexible and have a passion for quality improvement, using technology to achieve this.
You will lead on ensuring the Practice meets all Information Governance and Data Quality standards relevant to primary care.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the Business Manager and lead GP Partner in IT to support the Practice growth strategy.
Job responsibilities
1. Lead on innovation and the best use of IT and the SystmOne clinical system to benefit the Practice.
2. Identify new technology, products, suppliers and services that could improve the cost effectiveness and efficiency of our existing and new services through a cost/benefit analysis.
3. Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system products and other software suppliers (Ardens, PATCHs, e-consult, TeamNet).
4. Build searches and extract data for service improvement, internal and external reporting and quality improvement, e.g. vaccination programmes.
5. Create and provide ongoing management of templates, protocols and SystmOne alerts for the Practice.
6. Develop, maintain and update the Practice website.
7. Provide upskilling training to the Practice staff on the use of information systems.
8. Lead on analysis of datasets from information systems and data provided from internal and external sources to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Practice.
9. Build a working relationship with the NHS IT system provider (currently The Health Informatics Service THIS) to maximise the benefit of the service for the Practice.
10. Develop robust IT business continuity plans, working with the NHS IT system provider to minimise disruption to the Practice should an NHS IT failure occur.
11. Ensure that all IT related standard operating procedures are documented, reviewed appropriately, communicated, and adhered to.
12. Support the installation and configuration of hardware and software within the Practice.
13. Maximise internal systems to ensure robust delivery of services (Wi-Fi, telephone system, mobile devices).
14. Be the main contact for coordinating all IT issues within the Practice.
Information Governance/Data Quality
1. Lead on ensuring best practice in Information Governance.
2. Work closely with the ICB, Data Protection Officer (DPO)/Information Governance (IG) Lead, to ensure compliance with technical, cyber and physical security standards.
3. Undertake tasks required under GDPR / by the ICO / National Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
4. Manage and oversee agreements with third party organisations to ensure data protection.
5. Ensure data sharing agreements are in place with third parties.
6. Identify training needs and provide regular staff updates.
7. Maintain an organisation training matrix.
8. Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Security Toolkit around Data requirements.
9. Have knowledge and experience of maintaining records to CQC standards.

Experience
* Experience in supervising/managing/training staff
* Problem solving and analytical skills
* Ability to formulate strategy and produce operational policies and procedures
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Proven work experience in management, operations or communication
* Experience of managing a customer focused team
* Experience of working in an NHS setting
* Effective time management and prioritisation skills
Qualifications
* Recognised IT and/or IG Qualification
* Recognised leadership and/or management qualification
