Purpose of Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead refurbishment projects across Defence sites, working within the FDIS framework.
Job Description
In this role, you’ll lead the delivery of upgrades, repairs, and improvements across Defence sites within Oxfordshire. The initial 12-month project at RAF Brize Norton will focus on asbestos removal, legionella remediation, and plumbing replacements. Following this project, you’ll continue in a permanent capacity across various Oxfordshire sites as part of our framework agreement. As Site Manager, you will oversee site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance and manage the performance of subcontractors, as well as monitor project costs and handle material procurement. The ideal candidate will have a background in managing commercial refurbishment projects, preferably with experience under a Tier 1 contractor on Defence sites, though broader commercial experience is also welcomed.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring refurbishment projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
2. Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, site teams, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
3. Uphold strict safety standards, conducting regular checks to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and MOD requirements.
4. Liaise with clients, project managers, and Defence representatives, providing regular updates on project progress and resolving issues promptly.
5. Conduct quality checks at each project stage, ensuring all work aligns with quality benchmarks and Defence specifications.
6. Work on-site in all weathers, at clients’ businesses or in a site office.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
1. Proven experience managing refurbishment/construction projects, ideally within Defence, MOD, or similar highly regulated environments.
2. Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards.
3. Excellent leadership and people management skills.
4. Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
5. SMSTS, CSCS, and first aid certification preferred.
6. Lived and worked in the UK for the last 5 years continuously (SC clearance required).
