Summary:
The Top Drive Technician is responsible for performing regularly scheduled inspections while minimizing unnecessary costs and maximizing the safety and efficiency of the Top Drive system.
Responsibilities:
1. Rigging up and removing top drives in a safe and organized manner
2. Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems
3. Maintaining the spare parts inventory and ensuring spares meet safe operating standards
4. Responding to downtime in a professional manner
5. Minimizing downtime through preventive maintenance
6. Stocking necessary parts for scheduled maintenance
7. Addressing concerns and providing viable solutions and alternatives
8. Proposing recommendations on maintenance systems management
9. Training rig personnel on proper operation and maintenance
10. Both fieldwork and working at the West Texas shop are required
11. Upholding Precision’s safety standards at all times
Knowledge & Skills:
1. Hydraulic experience and computer knowledge required
2. High level of comfort working at heights up to 140 feet
3. Valid Driver’s License is required
4. Demonstrated mechanical and electronic aptitude
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
6. Ability to multi-task, find solutions, and establish priorities
7. Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility
8. Strong management, delegation, planning, leadership, and problem-solving skills
9. Ability to work independently
Experience:
1. Previous oilfield drilling experience is required
2. Experience working with Topdrives is required
