Job Purpose
The role involves delivering projects within the UK defence sector for high-profile clients. Responsibilities include managing capital programmes and NAMP projects, as well as electrical infrastructure tasks arising from the long-term operation and maintenance of 33kV/11kV/400V private network contracts. While the primary clients are located in Hampshire and Wiltshire, opportunities may arise to work on similar projects throughout the UK Power Networks Services portfolio.
We require an experienced 33kV Operational Project Engineer to join the existing Project Team. The role will provide 33kV engineering support for critical activities, including standby and emergency response related to electrical distribution equipment and infrastructure.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Oversee safety management across all sectors. - Ensure the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of construction, maintenance, and fault resolution works. - Adhere to all procedures, maintaining a high standard of quality. - Manage daily planning, coordination, and real-time resource utilization efficiently. - Collaborate with HV/LV control - submit HV/LV switching schedules, conduct HV/LV network operations following distribution safety rules and procedures. - Provide support and technical assistance to field personnel. - Generate Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe execution of project work. - Perform quality assurance checks on completed works and address any identified quality issues. - Work with customers to meet their expectations, managing relationships effectively. - Be ready to support other sections, such as during organizational changes or system emergencies, as required by your expertise. - Participate in out-of-hours safety/emergency responses (Standby). - Oversee contractors performing high & low voltage maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Recognized as a Senior Authorized Person according to the Distribution Safety Rules - up to and including 33kV. - HNC in Electrical Engineering. - Experienced in distribution systems ranging from 400v to 33kV. - Demonstrates a high level of customer focus, adding value and ensuring project completion to customer satisfaction. - Effective team player, managing and integrating well within a team environment. - Eligible for full Ministry of Defence Security Clearance. - Skilled in problem identification, understanding core issues, and exploring alternatives. - Possesses a full driving licence. - Capable of working independently to manage and prioritize diverse tasks, communicating effectively at all levels. - Committed to working as part of a small team on the delivery of a high-profile project. - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, MS Project, and other relevant software.
