Job summary
Applications are invited for an F3 Level doctor in Gastroenterology at Musgrove Park Hospital starting in February 2025. This post offers an exciting opportunity to work on the gastroenterology inpatient ward and review gastroenterology and hepatology patients in the same day emergency care unit (SDEC).
The post is for six months and there will be no commitment to the general medical rota.
The department has a strong reputation for excellent clinical care and a growing research portfolio. We are looking for dynamic individuals who are keen to work in a ward-based environment but also take an active part in quality improvement projects.
The successful applicants will work closely with the existing specialist nurses, postgraduate doctors in training, registrars, and consultants to deliver inpatient care.
Main duties of the job
This post is offered as a 6 month fixed post in the first instance and is suitable for people interested in applying for core training in any specialty in the UK. Applicants will have experience of working in the NHS. There is no requirement for previous experience in gastroenterology.
There will be an expectation to attend the F2 teaching program and the gastroenterology teaching programme during the placement.
The successful applicant will work as part of the ward team on the 21 bed gastroenterology ward with the team of F1, F2 and IMT trainees as well as the specialist registrars (3 Severn Deanery Trainees and 1 or 2 Trust Registrars). The work is supervised by the consultant gastroenterologist of the week (GoW). Currently, 6 consultants provide ward cover on a rolling rota. The ward consultant provides at least 4 formal ward rounds per week along with daily reviews of any new patients or sick patients who require review.
