Starting pay rate - £145 - £200 per day (depending on experience)

Teaching personnel are currently working on behalf of a mainstreem secondary school in Birmingham who are currently advertising for an expereinced head of year. This position would be a full time, monday to friday role with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff in the near future.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Pastoral Care: The head of year is responsible for the well-being, behavior, and safeguarding of students within their year group. They address attendance issues, monitor behavior, and ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Parental Contact: Unlike a head of department, the head of year has extensive contact with parents. They serve as a key point of communication, addressing concerns and providing updates on student progress.
Tutor Team Management: The head of year supervises form tutors (teachers assigned to specific tutor groups within the year). They guide decisions related to tutor time content, PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic education), and assemblies.
Collaboration: While making decisions, the head of year works closely with the key stage lead (if applicable) and the assistant head responsible for pastoral and behavior matters.
Timetable: Typically, the head of year combines teaching responsibilities with dedicated periods for year-group-related tasks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
