Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic practitioner with the appropriate clinical and scrub experience to help lead our acute theatre.
You will work alongside your Band 7 to support our dedicated team and continuously develop our service to provide excellent care for our patients. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a keen interest in improving and developing their leadership skills to enable management of staff, be an effective role model demonstrating high levels of clinical competence & expertise. Have the ability to confidently coordinate the Multidisciplinary team and be able to confidently manage challenging situations.
You will have a minimum of 3 years’ Band 5 theatre scrub experience. You should be able to demonstrate involvement in service improvement with some evidence of change management. You will demonstrate skills in self-management including time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
This is a demanding role where you will be expected to exhibit knowledge of how we work towards our Trust's vision and be a real team player. All shifts are 11.5 hours minus breaks, 07.45-20.15 or 20.00-08.00 covering weekends and bank holidays. You must be able to commit to a rotating shift pattern.
Main duties of the job
Our Trust is committed to providing development opportunities to all grades of staff and as a Deputy Team Leader you will be supported to develop appropriate leadership skills. Training will be provided by our two in-house clinical educators and supernumerary time will be offered to allow dedicated training and support.
The post requires you to hold registration with the appropriate professional Regulatory Body (NMC or HCPC) and to comply with their professional code of conduct. Evidence of ongoing registration will be required.

* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.

* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or ODP with current HCPC registration.
* NVQ assessor
Experience
* Minimum 3 years Theatre experience
* Evidence of continued educational and professional development.
* Experience of writing policies and/or protocols
Knowledge
* Demonstrate awareness of current theatre issues and developments
* Demonstrate awareness and understanding of NHS standards of Professional Practice
* Awareness of own limitations, roles and responsibilities of the multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety / COSHH
* Awareness of managing resources, including budgets.
