Job summary Provide care for babies under the direction of a band 6 qualified nurse, midwife, or medical practitioner within the neonatal and transitional care services of the Trust. Provide education to mothers on the care of their babies in preparation for discharge home Main duties of the job Contribute to the implementation of the individual care of the woman and her baby under the direction of a nurse. Undertake the prescribed care of the woman and baby to include giving of medication to babies under the direction of a nurse. Assist the doctor in undertaking routine procedures for the baby. Deliver care relating to hygiene, nutrition and basic nursing. Recognise, report to the nurse in charge and document any changes in the babys condition. Report to the nurse in charge and document all details of care given. Have an understanding of individualised and family approach to care including social and cultural backgrounds in accordance with the Trust policies. Contribute to health promotion and assist in setting standards of care. Support mothers in parenting role; facilitating their learning of practical skills within the role.
