Position: Support Worker
Role Summary:
As a Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to young people, helping them develop the skills needed for independent living. You will play a vital role in their daily lives, assisting with everything from personal care and budgeting to fostering positive relationships and supporting their health and well-being. You will be part of a team dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering space for young people to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Empowering Young People:
o Support young people in identifying and achieving personal goals, fostering independence in all areas of their life.
o Encourage young people to actively participate in the decision-making process regarding their care and support needs.
o Help young people develop life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
2. Emotional and Practical Support:
o Provide emotional support to young people, fostering trust and promoting positive mental health and well-being.
o Assist young people with daily tasks, including hygiene, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
o Support young people to manage their finances and budget effectively.
3. Support Planning and Advocacy:
o Work collaboratively with the Senior Support Worker and Service Manager to implement and review Individual Support Plans tailored to each young person's needs.
o Act as a key worker for a designated young person, advocating on their behalf with external professionals such as social workers, GPs, and education providers.
4. Building Relationships:
o Facilitate opportunities for young people to build and maintain positive relationships with their families, friends, and the wider community.
o Encourage participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.
5. Health and Safety:
o Ensure the safety and well-being of young people through risk assessments, health and safety protocols, and regular fire drills.
o Support young people in accessing appropriate medical care, including arranging appointments and liaising with healthcare professionals.
6. Safeguarding:
o Ensure that the welfare of each young person is safeguarded at all times, following the company’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
o Report any concerns regarding the safety or well-being of the young people to the Senior Support Worker or Manager.
7. Administrative and Record-Keeping:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided, in line with Optionz Supported Housing policies.
o Participate in administrative tasks necessary for the smooth running of the service, including updating care plans, incident reports, and financial procedures.
8. Team Collaboration and Professional Development:
o Work closely with colleagues, attending team meetings and sharing information to ensure a cohesive and high-quality service.
o Participate in training, supervision, and annual appraisals to continue your professional development and ensure best practice in care delivery.
Compensation and Benefits:
£13 per hour for Seniors | £12 per hour Level III Qualified | £11.44 per hour Unqualified.
£50 per sleep-in shift.

Experience:
* Semi-Independent Or Children's Home Support work: 2 years (required)
* Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), equivalent or willingness to work towards it. (Required)
